New research from Resource has identified that UK companies have cut their cleaning and maintenance budgets since the recession started. 

As a result half of the employees surveyed said they were embarrassed about clients and customers visiting their workplace, with many employees noting the deterioration in their premises.

15% of employees cited that a dirty workplace as having a negative impact on their productivity. With 40% of those questioned stating that the company they worked for had scaled back with their current cleaning companies and the contract cleaners.

Cutbacks are understandable and required in tough times but wholesale cutbacks on cleaning may be having more of negative impact than anticipated and may adversely affect companies and employees alike if not carefully monitored.
