If you service your car and after the service the car
works as you imagined, the work was carried out on time and you paid the
price agreed, why would you ask for a refund because one mechanic hadn't
turned up for work that day?
In the cleaning industry often clients expect a set number of cleaners working a set number of hours per day or they want a credit, "i'm paying for 4 cleaners not 3..". is an oft heard cry in from clients.
So why do clients expect refunds even though the cleaning service has been done to the agreed standard? This is partly the cleaning contractors fault, we have to promise the earth in an ultra competitive industry and specificy everything to the nth degree, but also the fault of the client who are often not interested primarily in the quality of service but getting their ounce of flesh: in this case, the amount of cleaners specified doing the specified amount of hours.
If a client asks for a refund solely because 1 cleaner hasn't turned up, it effectively means all they are interested in is "renting" a certain amount of people for a certain amount of hours and not about the quality of service.
Cleaning companies are particularly prone to clients demanding refunds in these tough times. As any cleaning company will tell you, it has been a looooong time since the focus on cleaning was on quality, value and great service, it has been all about the bottom line and for the moment it is not going to change any time soon.
